Foster City, California – Motiv Power Systems has added an all-electric powertrain option for the Ford F59 commercial stripped chassis. AmeriPride has selected this zero-emission F59 option from Motiv for six walk-in vans to be utilized in Fresno, California.
The new electrified F59 has up to 100 mile range, a GVWR of 22,000 lb, and a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty for both the Motiv powertrain and Ford chassis. Zero-emission trucks and buses equipped with the Motiv All-Electric Powertrain have shown a reduction of total operating costs by up to 87% compared to diesel trucks.
The new electrified F59 option will be on display at NTEA's The Work Truck Show in Indianapolis, March 4 through March 6.
Motiv founder and CEO, Jim Castelaz, says, "Today, the vast majority of trucks and buses are completely dependent on fossil fuel. Combine this with unpredictability of fuel prices and increasing health concerns over toxic emissions and their contribution to climate change and it's clear that a shift is needed. We look forward to demonstrating that these zero-emission electric trucks are just as reliable and durable as diesel ones, with much lower total cost of ownership."
The F59 is the latest chassis available with the Motiv All-Electric Powertrain, which has demonstrated itself as a functional electric solution on the Ford E-450 van chassis and the heavy-duty Crane Carrier COE2 chassis. The F59 chassis is frequently used in the assembly of walk-in vans and step vans, which can be used as delivery trucks, refrigerated trucks, food trucks, and tool trucks.
The Motiv All-Electric Powertrain includes the Motiv electric Powertrain Control System (ePCS), batteries, motor, charger, heating, and air conditioning. It is installed via ship-through and requires minimal modification to the body and final vehicle design while maintaining performance. It includes universal charging compatibility and secure remote telematics and diagnostics.
