LaserCoil Technologies announced RSDC in Holt, Michigan, the largest metal toll processor under one roof in North America, placed an order for a dual-head, 8kW coil-fed blanking line, the first of its kind in North America. This line also features sealed optics and LaserCoil’s proprietary high-speed Z-axis. It is expected to be running production by fourth quarter of 2022.
“We are excited to enter the laser blanking market and provide our customers with valuable options for their blanking needs,” says Chris Van Deventer, RSDC president. “With the variety of parts we process, it was crucial to find a laser blanking solution that could meet the high-speed requirements of our business. The LaserCoil system will be an excellent addition to our four conventional blanking lines and cut-to-length line while positioning us well to serve the needs of the growing EV market.”
By laser cutting direct from coil stock, LaserCoil systems provide a fast and flexible approach to blanking that is well-suited for production environments running multiple blank profiles and mixed material types. The systems can handle coil stock up to 2.1 m wide in any length, and can process aluminum, mild steel, advanced high-strength steels, materials for surface sensitive panels as well as structural components.
