During Jay Leno’s Garage 2024 Cybertruck review, Tesla’s chief designer Franz von Holzhausen confirmed that a wireless at-home charger is in the works. While no additional information was provided regarding the inductive charger, the company has been hinting at this development since earlier this year.
“We are working on inductive charging. You don’t even need to plug anything in at that point. You just drive over the pad in your garage and you start charging,” von Holzhausen said.
Initially, the company leaned towards employing a robotic arm for automating the charging process with the advent of self-driving vehicles. However, more recently, there has been a shift in its approach, now favoring inductive charging.
