CAM software

hyperMill 2018.2 CAM software includes enhancements for 3D milling and roughing. Automatic face extension, used during CAM programming, automatically extends selected milling surfaces, eliminating manual CAD work and improving corner cuts. Modules also support conical barrel cutters in addition to general and tangential cutters.

Programming ease and flexibility in defining special tools improve in 3D Optimized Roughing as the system recognizes and accounts for free tool geometries. Software can define different allowances and adapt the machining process accordingly. High-feed cutters have a special, easy-to-define cutting geometry, and hyperMill uses the free geometries of the cutting tool edge for calculation, simulation, and collision checking.

SCARA robot

The Synthis T6 selective-compliance assembly robot arm (SCARA) installs in minutes and eliminates space-constraint issues. The T6 is designed for pick-and-place, assembly, parts handling, and dispensing applications in the automotive, medical development, lab automation, consumer electronics, electronic components, and industrial fields. The integrated design includes a built-in controller housed in the robot base and 100V or 220V power for end-of-arm tooling. It does not require an encoder battery, minimizing factory downtime for maintenance. The T6 expands T-series lineup to include payloads of up to 6kg, up to 600mm reach, and the ability to handle multiple tools.

Analog programmable rotary encoders

An upgraded family of analog rotary controllers for position control offer improved accuracy, faster dynamic response, new programming options, and accept a wider range of supply voltages.

The analog encoders are programmable with measurement characteristics, customizable to application requirements. Programming can be carried out at the factory, in a distributor’s warehouse, or at the customer’s job site, using the UBIFAST programming tool.

Programmable characteristics include direction of rotation (clockwise or counter-clockwise), zero set, and encoder output range. Measurement range programming allows voltage or current to be set to match a user-defined range of mechanical motion.
