Hybrid/electric vehicle main contactor

The EVC 80 main contactor for hybrid and electric vehicles features a continuous current of up to 80A and a voltage rating of up to 450VDC, making it suitable as the main contactor in lower current applications and the pre-charge or auxiliary in higher-power batteries. A hermetically-sealed nitrogen gas contact chamber provides safety and performance.

With lower amperage, EVC 80 can be the main power contactor in a hybrid-electric vehicle from the battery to the car, or an auxiliary unit contactor in a full electric vehicle. Smaller packaging allows for more efficient battery disconnect unit (BDU) layouts and optimized heat dissipation.

Designed for OEM bus electrical center applications (BECs), this plug-in contactor is non-polarity sensitive, providing ease of installation for coil power. A shielded outer core offers enhanced electromagnetic compatibility capabilities.

Electric air conditioning compressor

Electric compressors for automotive air conditioners have been certified compliant with Automotive Software Process Improvement and Capability dEtermination (SPICE) Version 3 (Level 3) standards – informal regulations set for the in-vehicle software development processes formulated by European car manufacturers. Certification was provided by DNV GL, a third-party certifying body based in Norway.

Automotive SPICE Ver. 3 verifies Level 3 compliance for 17 processes, including project management, software requirement analysis, software architecture design, software integration and integration testing, software competency testing, and quality assurance.

Commercial vehicle piston ring

A piston ring for commercial vehicle diesel engines enhances gas sealing capability by stabilizing ring dynamic motion and homogenizing oil film. The running surface profile of eLine rings, used in the 2nd groove, distributes oil more evenly around the cylinder bores and modifies the running face area for reduced gas pressure force. This enhances engine efficiency, increases robustness, and lowers emissions. Bench tests with eLine in different diesel engines have reduced blow-by up to 20%, which converts directly into increased mean effective pressure or decreased fuel consumption.

Rings used in the 2nd groove of commercial vehicle engines typically feature a tapered running face profile that can fail to produce a homogenous oil film. The relatively large running face area can cause radial ring instability when pressure between the inner and outer diameter of the ring becomes imbalanced.

The eLine’s circumferential groove toward its lower side allows surplus oil to be retained below the ring, creating a circumferential pressure difference that generates controlled oil flow around the bore as the piston reciprocates.
