Continuously variable suspension system
The Continuously Variable Semi-Active suspension system (CVSAe) enhances drive comfort by continuously adjusting all four shock absorbers up to 100 times per second to changing road conditions and dynamic driving situations such as cornering, lane changes, acceleration, and braking. CVSAe dampers can be switched from standard to sport or comfort mode at any time, according to driver preferences, for a more comfortable, dynamic, or sporty ride.
CVSAe is part of the Monroe Intelligent Suspension portfolio that includes adaptive suspension solutions (DualMode) for compact cars and semi-active solutions with external valve (CVSAe), internal valve (CVSAi), and two independent valves (CVSA2) for mid-range and higher-end cars. The portfolio also includes CVSA2/Kinetic and ACOCAR active suspension solutions for premium luxury cars, high-end sports cars, and SUVs with off-road capability.
Renault Espace to use CVSAe
Tenneco’s Continuously Variable Semi-Active suspension system (CVSAe) underpins Renault’s Multi-Sense system in the Espace minivan. Multi-Sense manages the chassis and electronic damper system that controls the CVSAe dampers. Gérard Payen, Deputy Program Director, Renault, says: “The new Espace offers a driving experience that changes according to the driver’s mood and a spectrum of on-road performance characteristics.”

Electronic rotary latch system
The R4-EM 8 series electronic rotary latch combines the efficient performance of a rotary latch mechanism with simplified DC motor actuation. The R4-EM 8 series is available with or without an extended housing option to accommodate door sensing and to provide added protection of the locking cam. It is available with an integrated connector and mechanical override bracket, featuring simplified, concealed two-hole installation.
Southco engineers designed the R4-EM 8 series to enable simplified electronic locking and monitoring for applications that incorporate intelligent electronic control systems.

Sunlight-readable LCD screens
Two TFT-LCDs offer brighter colors and can be seen in intense sunlight, making them applicable to industrial and mobile equipment. The 10.4" XGA (TCG104XGLP) and 12.1" XGA (TCG121XGLP) TFT-LCD displays feature 1,024 x 768 resolution and high-efficiency, long-lifetime LED backlights, with brightness ratings of 1,300cd/m2 (10.4") and 1,200cd/m2 (12.1"). Powered with Advanced Wide View (AWV) technology, the displays achieve an 85° viewing angle in all directions: left, right, top, and bottom.
An LED driver circuit is integrated into both LCD modules, eliminating the need for additional components to drive backlights. The screens’ operating temperature ranges are -30°C to 80°C.

Multi-metal seating systems
The carbon-amide-metal-based interior structure using a multi-material system approach (CAMISMA) project shows that it is possible to produce seat structures that are more than 40% lighter than conventionally manufactured ones and equally as safe.
The CAMISMA system aims to lower carbon fiber material expenses and can produce about 200,000 units per production line, allowing the highly concentrated, efficient use of carbon fiber, while meeting all safety requirements.
In addition to significant weight savings, CAMISMA reduces manufacturing steps required in assembly and the number of attachment parts needed.

Low-profile inductor
The automotive-grade IHLE-4040DC-5A low-profile, high-current inductor features an integrated e-shield for reducing EMI in the compact 4040 case size. The inductor contains the electric field associated with EMI in a tin-plated copper integrated shield, providing up to -20dB of electric field reduction at 1cm (above the center of the inductor) when the integrated shield is connected to ground. In addition, the four-terminal connection (two ground connection points for the shield) provides extra vibration performance for under-the-hood and chassis-mounted electronic circuits.
Capable of operating at up to 155°C with coplanarity of its four terminals of ≤100µm, the AEC-Q200-qualified device is optimized for energy storage in DC/DC converters and high-current filtering for automotive engine and transmission control units, diesel injection drivers, noise suppression for motors, windshield wipers, power mirrors and seats, and HID lighting.
Operating ranges
- Max. DCR: 1.66mΩ to 178mΩ
- Inductance: 0.47µH to 47µH
- Rated currents: Up to 30A

Radio, television receivers
The STH module family supports the major broadcast standards deployed worldwide, from AM/FM radio to DVB-T2, using the third generation of Parrot’s Octopus chip.
DVB-T2 is the most advanced digital terrestrial television (DTT) broadcast standard. It is at least 50% more efficient than any other over-the-air transmission system; however, it makes the reception in a mobile environment much more difficult to achieve.
STH modules are embedded with relevant software for in-car reception: multi-standard background scan, station following, traffic data, and descrambling. The module hosts UPnP and HTTP servers.
