Vertical lathe series

The VT-950/1150 series of vertical CNC lathes feature 43.3" and 53" swing over the bed and cutting diameters to 52" with chucks sizes from 24" to 40". Precision guideways in all axes and a rigid machine bed absorb vibration and provide stability in hard turning.

A 944ipm (X/Z) feed permits quick positioning of the tools. A 12- or optional 24-station servo-type tool turret – carrying tools up to 2.5" – offers indexing time of 0.2 sec.

A turn-mill option is available, and machines come standard with Hwacheon’s Lathe Tool Load Detection System software to detect and diagnose tool load during machining.

The VT-950/1150 range has an integrated 45° angle bed frame to minimize heat distortion. A geared drive system allows high-torque turning at low speed and high-speed turning. The transmission and the spindle motor are designed separately so that heat and vibration generated from the transmission don’t interfere with the spindle motor.

Quick-change jaw system

DoveLock master and quick-change steel jaws enable fast jaw changes and repositioning with high precision. Jaw change time is reduced 90%, to less than a minute, with jaw positioning repeatability of up to ±0.001".

The machinable jaws can be rotated 180° and machined on both sides for two different part setups.

Extra-slim steel jaws for the DoveLock system add 1/4" to each master jaw and enable quick-change jaws to be used as traditional hard jaws in setups that don’t require custom machined jaws.

The DoveLock master jaw uses dovetail quick-clamps to hold the quick-change jaws. The master jaw is attached to the stationary and movable jaw of any standard 6" vise or Kurt Cluster Tower in the initial setup.

Small-part handling system
