Vertical turning center with integrated pallet changer

The You Ji CY-550-H VTC with an integrated automatic pallet changer is designed for automotive production. The rigid vertical column and base are Meehanite castings, heavily ribbed for reduced thermal distortion and vibration dampening.

Built for rugged to fine-finish turning of medium-to-large components, the machine’s maximum turning diameter capacity is 27.5". The 30hp, 2,500rpm spindle motor uses a two-speed ZF gearbox to provide the high torque necessary for machining larger diameters. NN type spindle bearings are used to endure high centrifugal loads and big spindle loads. The integrated automatic pallet changer is the rotary spindle carrier type and indexes in less than 50 seconds. Linear guideways are completely enclosed, and a forced lubrication system assures precision.

The way system enables rapid traverse rates of 787ipm.

Coolant through-toolholder clamp

The Multidec-LUBE coolant-through-toolholder clamp for CNC Swiss machines permits optimum coolant jet positioning, eliminates time bending and aiming coolant lines, reduces overall setup time, and prevents stringy chips collecting on cutting tools. The design incorporates a coolant/oil delivery passage in the tool clamp, ensuring a repeatable jet flow even after multiple tool changes or setups. This feature allows use of conventional square shank toolholders as if they were coolant-through since the coolant travels through the clamp and can remain semi-permanently plumbed into the high pressure system.

Low-profile, multi-axis vise

Digital optical comparator for 5-axis inspection and measurement

The Digital Optical Comparator 700 series features 5-axis inspection to view parts with complex geometries from all sides and angles. The five axes of motion (X,Y, Z, rotary, and tilt) enable quick, accurate inspection of all sides and angles on the part.

Adaptive software locates features of interest on different surfaces with varying reflectivity and viewing angles. The 700 series can be used to check EDM or laser-drilled holes as it automatically verifies precise hole presence and measures hole location.

The systems feature CAD auto-align and CAD auto pass/fail tools. CAD data aligns to the part in less than two seconds with auto-align. Auto pass/fail determines in real-time if a part is within tolerance with either a point-based system or by considering complete geometric entities.

Filterless mist collectors

The Amano MJ filterless mist collectors are designed to collect and filter both oil mist and water-soluble mist, providing reduced operation costs since no filter replacements are required. Disk and cyclone technology allow the MJ mist collectors to remain efficient while collecting 99.9% of mist. The fully sealed design is capable of maintaining suction for extended periods of time with a low noise level of 72db.

Available in three models with a collection capacity more 770cfm, the compact design can be mounted directly on virtually any machine tool or on a stand next to the machine. The collectors are suitable for machining centers, lathes, EDMs, and grinding machines. They are available with an automatic water cleaning system for wet-dust collection such as grinding applications.

Cylindrical grinding machine

The updated GA-26T cylindrical grinding machine is designed to support OD grinding of small- to mid-sized parts in high-volume, automated production environments.

Okuma will demonstrate the grinder at the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS), grinding multiple diameters with a formed grinding wheel and finishing a wormshaft that was cut on the new HJ-250E-T horizontal lathe and loaded into the grinder using automation provided by Gosiger Automation.

This compact CNC grinding machine provides simultaneous dressing and loading, fixed-table construction, and wheel-head traverse construction.

Mill-turn, multitasking machine

The Puma SMX 3100 S mill-turn, multitasking machine integrates the capabilities of a vertical machining center and horizontal turning center.

The Puma SMX series will initially be made available in two sizes, the Puma SMX2600, with a 10" chuck and 3.1" bar capacity, and the Puma SMX3100, featuring a larger 12" chuck with 4" of bar capacity. Both models have the capacity to machine parts up to 60" in length and 26" in diameter. X-axis travel is 24.8", Z-axis travel is 62.4", and Y-axis is 11.8".

Multitasking functions decrease total processing times and the number of machining operations by using a single setup. The Puma SMX series uses finite element analysis in structural design to achieve high-rigidity machine construction. The Y-axis machining area has been maximized through orthogonal design.

Ergonomic design features easy access for maintenance and operator convenience by including customized functions:

Motor with integrated drive

Sinamics S120M is a compact motor with integrated drive that allows users to move motor inverters directly onto the motor, reducing cabinet space and required cooling.

Decentralized S120M axes are connected back to the central S120 components in the cabinet via a hybrid cable and the AM600 adapter module. The hybrid cable contains all encoder and power cables and serves multiple S120M axes through a daisy-chain connection. Additional design features include a synchronous servomotor with multi-turn absolute encoder, optional holding brake, and an integrated power unit (motor module) available in three shaft heights covering the power range of 0.25kW to 1.5 kW.
