Indiana produces 83% of the recreational vehicles sold in the United States, with almost all coming from Elkhart County in the state’s northeast corner. During the Great Recession, the county’s dependence on an industry that relies on customers with lots of disposable income was a problem for the region, but as the economy has improved, so has Elkhart.
