HMUSA 2022 Conference: What happens when you try to apply (artificial) intelligence to basic mechanical components?

About the presentation
In today’s world, innovating is a must. In our industry, this means applying intelligence not only to whole machines, but also to individual machine components: think of a body’s brain intelligence vs knee intelligence. We started working on this challenge a few years ago, and today the biggest hurdle is applying intelligence to a simple pneumatic cylinder, upgrading it to an eco-friendly, self-monitoring, self-predicting industry component. This journey involved our customers, suppliers, technological partners, and a complete cross section of our internal R&D and manufacturing know-how. Today, in an industrial world under pressure to achieve sustainability and digitalization of products and processes, we must also deal with economic feasibility and sustainability. Our adventure is still ongoing, but we’d like to share it with you.

Luca Pagni is the CEO and owner of Cy.Pag. S.p.A. Throughout the years he gained experience working for companies such as ObexCode and Birdstep Technology. He graduated with a degree in international economics, Bocconi University, Milan (Italy).
