Halla Visteon supplies parts for Hyundai fuel-cell vehicle in US

HVAC system, air compressor support hydrogen Tucson launch in spring.

Van Buren Township, Mich. – Halla Visteon Climate Control Corp. is supplying an array of technologies to support Hyundai’s ix35 fuel-cell electric vehicle.

Introduced in Europe in 2013, Hyundai plans to launch the vehicle also knowns as the Tucson in the United States this spring.

Products supplied include a centrifugal air compressor, coolant heater, high-voltage cooling module and positive temperature coefficient (PTC) heater, and an HVAC system with an electric compressor.

The air compressor provides clean pressurized air to the fuel cell stack, which generates power to propel and operate the vehicle. The air compressor features a high-speed brushless DC motor with a patented, oil-free and angular ball bearing design.
