Novi, Michigan – Hino Trucks' Class 5 195h and 195h-DC diesel electric cab-over has been approved by the New York Truck – Voucher Incentive Program (NYT-VIP).
The NYT-VIP is a partnership between the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT), New York City Department of Transportation (NYCDOT), and CALSTART. Available is $19 million in first come – first served incentives aimed at accelerating deployments of alternative fuel vehicles and diesel emission control devices for medium to heavy duty commercial fleets in New York.
"New York customers are already seeing the benefits of our 195h diesel electric COE vehicles realizing up to 30% fuel savings over diesel-only products in well matched conditions," says Glenn Ellis, Hino Trucks vice president of marketing. "By utilizing the NYT-VIP, customers can realize an immediate payback on the incremental cost of our hybrid truck, and start to see operational savings on day one."
Fleets and OEMs believe it is crucial to reduce the incremental cost of a new alternative fuel vehicle by 80% to ensure a successful early adoption of advanced vehicle technologies. NYT-VIP is designed to meet this critical need and aims to kick-start the advancement of low-emission truck and bus technologies.
