In Veloz’ latest Market Report for the third quarter of 2021, California is just roughly 8,500 EVs away from reaching 1 million electric vehicles sold. EVs are 11.49% of new vehicle sales, reaching the highest percentage of the market share yet.
In California, 187,678 EV’s were sold during the first quarter through third quarter of 2021 as they surpassed every prior annual EV sales record with 3 months still remaining in the year.
Battery electric vehicles (BEV) accounted for 135,000 sales in the first 3 quarters of 2021, surpassing the prior annual BEV sales record.
There were also record sales of fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV) as 2,500 were sold in the first three quarters of the year and sales of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) are on track for an annual record after selling 50,500 PHEVs in the first three quarters of 2021.
