Volkswagen will be the official electric vehicle (EV) sponsor of the EV road trip series, “What Fuels You,” by filmmaker, Erika Gilsdorf, who will be embarking on a multi-month drive in an all-electric ID.4 Pro S AWD vehicle across several states. Starting in Minnesota, Gilsdorf will drive her way through the scenery and mountains all the way to the Great Plains while filming people and businesses that are driving change in their communities along the way.
Gilsdorf has embarked on road trips before to create video content, but this will be her first time driving a fully electric vehicle, hoping to highlight EV’s are capable of a long road trip and fun to drive.
“We’re excited for Erika as she begins her road trip through parts of the country that many do not associate with EV adaptability,” said Kimberley Gardiner, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Volkswagen of America. “We look forward to seeing her genuine connections with people that are interested in or just learning about EVs and the ID.4 in particular.”
The route, kicking off in Detroit Lakes, MN, will stop along the 4,000+ mile drive including Denver, Breckenridge, Aspen, Sundance, Salt Lake City and Nebraska City. Gilsdorf will be traveling solo and capturing her journey on Instagram Stories/Reels and TikTok. The route will also include recharging the vehicle at Electrify America charging stations, among other available EV charging opportunities along the way. The ID.4 is Volkswagen’s first all-electric SUV and the brand’s first global EV. It offers sporty yet comfortable driving, a spacious interior, and an award-winning user experience. The 2021 ID.4 Pro S AWD has an EPA-estimated 240 miles of range and is available at an MSRP of $48,175.
